i have installed a game onto my computer, however, i needed to download a
patch to fix the faults within the game, which i did succesfully, but get
the above message when i try to run the downloaded file. If you can help me
I would be elated, been searching for ways to do this for 3 days and you are
my last hope before the laptop goes through the window.

Sounds like the download is corrupt. Try downloading again.

options, but it keeps doing that same thing, the other reply that says

suggestions? the game is only 3 months old at the most, the laptop i am
installing it on is 2 weeks old also.

It sounds like you are using dialup. 8 hours to download--
If so, it is very likely that the download is corrupt. Without a download
manager, and perhaps using ftp, I'd suggest that you find another way to get
the "patch".

Do you have WinZip or some other zipping program? You could try to see
if its really a zip file that needs unzipping rather that a .exe file. You
can rename the .exe to a .zip and see if windows explorer (with its built-in
zip handling) recognizes it.
Sometimes with file names with many .'s I have found the IE will give it
the wrong extension on download.
