Exchange Server Alternative?

I am looking to host my own email on my server. Is there a simple
alternative to Exchange Server. I don't need all the whistles and bells.

If you just want POP3/SMTP there are many. If you want the calendaring etc.
Open-Xchange is probably your only option.
