When I copy paste several columns/rows from Excel to Access the process
copies the Excel column headings into Access as the first row.

How can I avoid this?

From inside Access, in the database window, use File | Get External Data |
Import ... -- during the import/wizard process, specify that you don't want
the headings.

use the get external data import wizzard - there is a check box that invites
you to use first row as headings - uncheck this box and click next.

Sorry, I had the direction backwards. I meant copy/paste Access to Excel.

From Access, File | Export ...
