I have a couple of Excel files with the same name only the suffix/extension
are .xls and .xlms. What's the difference between these two files. The .xlms
seem to go thru a conversion process when starting and closing??

I'm not familiar with any .xlms extension. There is a .xlsm extension which
is an Excel 2007 workbook with macros as opposed to a .xlsx extension which
is a workbook without macros. An extension of .xls is a workbook with or
without macros for Excel versions prior to Excel 2007.
