Excel shared file gets renamed

L

ld23

We have an Excel workbook that is shared across our LAN from our RHEL 4.0
(Red Hat Enterprise Linux) server. Often I get a call from a user saying
they can't access it or find it and I locate the file but it has been
renamed. The extension looks like this: .xls~RF11b333.TMP

What would cause this sort of thing to happen and how can this be prevented
in the future?

Thank you.

In another thread in this group, someone suggested this is caused by AVG
(which I think is some kind of antivirus program ?). Could this be your
problem ?
