Hi All,

I have my properties tab popping up on every new document i save. It's

Does anyoe know of how to set a default for this area?

Thanks to anyone who can give me some insight into this frustrating

You can turn off the automatic prompt if you so desire. Go to the Tools
menu, choose Options, then the General tab. There, uncheck the "Prompt for
documents" property. You can also create a new workbook, fill out the
properties (and nothing else) and save that workbook as a template (xlt) in
the XLStart directory (typically c:\program files\microsoft
office\office11\xlstart) with the name "book.xlt". New workbooks will be
created from book.xlt and therefore will have the default values for the
document properties already filled out.

Hi Chip, Thanks for your post. I'm running into a prob. though as i am on
Office '07. I cannot find the option types that you describe in the
ribbon/start button within the program 'Excel Options'.
Any ideas? Thanks again!

Hi abet

I think this is the one ?

Add the developer tab on the Ribbon
To display the Developer tab go to Office Button >Excel Options...Popular

Click on the last button named "Document Panel"

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the heads up on the document panel! Do you know how to set a
default? I would very much like to stop seeing the document properties pop
up every time i save a doc.

Hi Abet

Do you have a template named Book in your xlstart folder ?
By default you not see this pop up

If there is a book template maybe it is set there so every new workbook will have it also

Look here

C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
In Vista look here
C:\Users\Ron\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

Note: Ron is the username in the path above
