Excel Excel Not Responding

I have a large Excel file (48MB) that I am having trouble using in Vista and Office 2007. I understand it is a huge file and is going to take time to calculate no matter what, but I have an older computer with XP and less memory and space and it does calculate, on my new computer it crashes EVERYTIME it calculates to 41%. It is for work and is driving me crazy, I don't know how to solve the problem. Any ideas on what the issue might be?
