Excel not listed as Export format

I have recently started using Office 97 Professional,
having updated from an earlier version. I have occasions
to export tables/queries from Access to Excel. With this
newer version of Access, Excel does not come up as an
exportable format when I use the Save As/Export function
in the File menu. I checked two user's manuals which both
say that Excel should be there, although one says it may
require reinstallation of the office program. I have done
that, looked through ValuPak, etc. Still it is not there.
Could there be some kind of bug in my copy of Access? What
do I try next? Never had trouble like this with the old
version.

Try re-registering the dll files like this:
Start Run
regsvr32 msexcl35.dll
regsvr32 msxbse35.dll
regsvr32 mspdox35.dll
regsvr32 mstext35.dll

Use 40 instead of 35 for A2K and 2002.

Just tried re-registering the dll files (using Start/Run.)
I got the message "Load Library ("msexc135.dll") failed.
Get last Error returns 0x00000485." For the last three:
msxbse35.dll, mspdox35.dll, and mstext35.dll, I got the
message "succeeded." I don't understand what you mean
by "Use 40 instead of 35 for A2K and 2002. What next?

That should have been msexcl35.dll, not msexc135.dll (letter ell, not number
one)

What Joe meant by "use 40 instead of 35 for A2K and 2002" was look for files
msexcl40.dll, msxbse40.dll, etc. However, since you're using Office 97, this
isn't applicable to you.

Take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=171955 as well.
