Excel linked as picture not fully showing for all users

We have a Word doc with an Excel range selected and embedded as a linked
Picture. On the originating document, the picture correctly displays the
entire range. We have some users (but not all) who then open the Word doc &
after clicking to update the link, the right edge (maybe two or three columns
worth) of the range disappears from the picture. If the user double-clicks
on the picture, it opens the linked Excel file and clearly shows all of the
ranges selected. All users are running Windows XP and using Office 2002
products. All suggestions welcome...

I've compared virtual memory, hardware acceleration on the graphics card,
even ran a repair on Office. Is there somewhere on the computer I can see
what settings relate to OLE?

one more caveat to note. When you look at the object properties on a
"normal" user, the ORIGINAL picture size is ~10 x ~10. After the "problem"
user has updated the link, the ORIGINAL picture size is noted as ~10 x ~8
even though the selected range in Excel has not changed.
