Excel how to stop making back up copes

can someone tell me how to stop excel from making
duplicate back-ups as i delete them they continue to
duplicate
 
Maybe it's because the "Always create backup" option is checked. Cllick
"File", "Save As" then choose "Tools" from the Save As dialog and then
"General Options" there you should see a checkbox for creating backups.
Uncheck it if you need to but it could be that some time in the future
you'll wish you had a backup copy of your workbook because of an accidental
deletion!!
