Excel "file locked for editing"

Farqy

I open an excel file from windows explorer, then I close it. Next time I open
it I get the message "file locked for editing" and the username is me. It is
a standalone PC. I am using Vista, originally excel file was created in XP if
this makes any odds? I have to restart my computer to open the file for
editing again.

Is is just this one file, or all of them on that computer. Does the file
act like that on another computer?.........trying to isolate if the trouble
is with the file, or with the computer
