excel documents opening errors

Good day,

Having a hassle with excel saved files that give a
continuous error before opening.
( '*.xls' cannot be found. check the spelling of the
filename, and verify that the file location is correct.)
two or three times with different filennames and then it
opens, have no clue. can anyone please help?

Sometimes one of these works:

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

An alternative might be to do:
Try Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)
