Excel crashes when I format a cell / column

Dan

Anybody knows what is causing this issue?

I have a document in which some columns are dates, I click the column, right
click mouse button and then click format cell to change the date format.

I get Microsoft excel has stopped working then I get the trying to recover
data and it just hands there.

But I noticed it's not just on dates, if I just try to format cell it
happens anyway.

Dan-

This problem happened to me in Excel, and I had the same issue getting Word
to open. It's really quite infuriating.

It happens because the Office program you're using can't find or access the
default printer.

I had both these problems because my home network has its printer on the
desktop downstairs... whenever the desktop falls asleep, the printer becomes
inaccessible and office software hangs up, crashes, or fails to open.

Bottom line, make sure you can get to your default printer, or change the
default setting under Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Printers (select one
and click on 'set as default' under the location bar).

Let me try and rearrange my printer options and see if that works.

I forgot to mention I'm on vista and excel 2007.

Thanks
Dan
