Excel compatible freeware?

First, Microsoft don't make a version of Excel that you can run from a
USB drive do they?

Assuming they do not, can anyone suggest a compatible program other
than Open Office (it runs VERY slow on my computer. If it could
support the xlsx & xlsm formats in addition to xls that would be great
but not mandatory.

Thanks in advance... Bob

Have you tried the Google spreadsheet?

Pete

I need something that does not have to be connected to the web to
use, (I assume you have to be on-line for Google Docs).

You might be able to use Androffice. It is built for the Android
operating system, is supposed to be able to handle all the XL file
types, and you can run Android from a 'live' version I believe, so
effectively from a USB key. I am not sure if that is what you are
after but it might be worth a look.
