What have you tried, and what error message did you get? What happens when
you rename in Explorer?

Regards,
Fred.

Do you have excel 2007? There does not seem to be an option to rename sheet tabs. I do not use explorer, why would it matter?

Try rightclicking on the sheet tab. You should see a popup menu that includes
an option for renaming.

Yes Dave I have. That works on another workbook. I don't know why the
option is unavailable in this workbook, when I right click on the sheet name
tabs.

Might have saved some time if you had communicated this initially.

When you say the "option is unavailable" do you mean it is not there? or that
it is grayed out.

If it is grayed out, protection is one thing that can cause that. Go to the
Review ribbon and see if the workbook is protected. If it is, the option will
read Unprotect workbook. If it is not, it will read Protect workbook.
