Excel 2007 Crashes When Clicking "Page Layout" Tab

D

Derek

Hello,

I'm having a problem where if you start Excel, even in a blank workbook, and
then click on the Page Layout tab Excel locks up. I've ran Diagnostics and
it said one item was fixed but the problem remains. This is Office64 on
Vista64. Hoping someone might have some ideas here as I've been perplexed.
Running all latest updates and everything. In fact the machine is very new
too.

Thanks,
Derek

First, this is just a guess...

But lots and lots of excel (and windows!) crashes are caused by printer
drivers. When you change to page layout, excel has to check with windows to see
how things should be displayed. And windows has to check with the printer
driver to determine that.

I'd try changing to a different printer (or a different printer driver if you
don't have multiple physical printers).

If that works, I'd visit the problem printer's web site to see if there's a
fresh copy available for downloading.

Dave,

Good guess, definately got me headed in the right direction... Seems as
though the printers had disappeared... Reinstalled one and they all
reappeared. Odd...

Thanks for the tip!!!

Derek
