Hi there,

I hope someone can help. When i have a comment on a cell and paste special
- value. The cell comes up as a value but it doesn't keep the comment that i
have added to cell before i did paste special value.

the old verson excel 2003 kept the comments.

thanks for your help.

Excel 2003 copy>paste special>value does not copy Comments so I think you
mis-remember.

Takes two steps...............paste special>value then paste
special>comment.

This is kinda wierd.

Here is example:
Cell a3 = 25000
Cell B3 = +A3
Inserted a commment on B3 = Hello

A) If you Copy Cell B3 and paste special as Value ----- comment isn't
there. I can't copy the cell after because the comment isn't there

End of A)

B) Go back to the example and do the following
If you Copy Cell B3 and use the Clipboard and paste from clipboard it keeps
the comment attached to cell.

I know before. i didn't have two steps in earlier versions
copy and paste special value it kept the comment.

It doesn't make sense but at least i have away to keep the comment in cell
using the clipboard.

This is Kinda Wierd:

Here is Example for Both A and B

Cell A3 = 25000
Cell B3 = +A3 (Cell Reference) Add Comment "hello"

A) Copy B3 and paste special value ---Comment disappears

B) Copy B3 and use clipboard and paste the value from clipboard it keeps the
comment on Cell B3...

I know the excel 2003 doesn't need to do two steps.

Well, at least i can keep the comments on the cell using the clipboard .

thanks for your help

How wierd is this

I won't argue with your memory of Excel 2003 but paste special>value will
not copy a Comment along with values in one step in my version of Excel 2003
