Excel 2007 Beta

1) How do I access all the features that existed in 2000, like inserting a
custom button, creating a form, AutoFilter, etc that don't appear on the
title bar?

1b) If I didn't remember that the shortcut to VB Editor was ALT+F11 (and it
was the same in Excel 2007) I wouldn't have been able to figure out how to
open the macro editor to program my scripts/macros. Is there a way to add
custom buttons to the Excel toolbar for VBasic macros? How about inserting a
link to a SUB VBscript (not a FUNCTION) as a button? Is there a way to have
the SUB run automatically when the sheet is recalculated?

2) My Internet Explorer is dead. Long live Internet Explorer. To use IE
pages, I have to view them in AOL. For some reason, the IE engine works in
this program. When I go to the 'Help' in Office 2007, the pages don't work
because of a problem with my IE. I am unable to re-run ie6setup because the
version on my computer is later than the one in setup. I tried "installing"
ieaccess.inf and ie.inf from %SystemRoot%\INF but that didn't help. I have
XP Home with all the latest patches. How do I fix this?

Thanks for your answers.

When I try to run it, it keeps saying I need to reboot my computer first. (I
just had rebooted). If I remember correctly I got the same error message
even in safe mode.

They're all there...somewhere...

1) You can add buttons to the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar), this is available
via Office Button>Excel Options...>Customization. (You can also check to
move the QAT below the ribbon. this is the only way to realistically get
more than a few buttons on the QAT). (Autofilter is on the Data Tab>Sort &
Filter Chunk)

1b) You can add a developer tab via Office Button>Excel
Options...>Personalize>Show developer tab in ribbon. Any code you write with
custom commandbars (toolbars), unless you are customising the ribbon itself,
will appear on the add-ins tab

2) You've had an answer

Thank you for the answer to 1 and 1b.

I tried the solution for 2 but the installer won't run. It says there is a
pending operation that requires a reboot in order to run the ie6 sp1
installer. I tried running it from the command line and extracting the files
to a temporary folder and installing the .inf files (even in safe mode) but
that didn't help either.

I guess for the IE fix I'll just have to wait until I decide to reformat my
C drive.

Wierd thing is, AOL, which uses IE components, works. That's the only way I
can go to windowsupdate.

Thank you all for your answers.

Despite the 'solution' offered in a previous post in this thread, I solved
the problem with IE, and thereby fixed the Help system in Office. The
problem was an obsolete Java plugin from a version that no longer existed on
my system. I think I had tried to remove it before using Internet
Properties, Downloaded Programs, right-click plugin and 'Delete' but that
evidently didn't get rid of it.

I used Spybot Search & Destroy and the plugin is now gone, IE is fixed, and
the Help system in Office 2007 beta works.
