Excel 2003 - Autofilter "freezing"

I am running Excel 2003 on XP. I have recently noticed an issue with the
autofilter tool. I can set up one, maybe 2, filters on a set of data and
then the filters "freeze". I cannot select any more filter options or get by
data back by using the filters. The only way to get rid of the filters is
through the Data > Filter > AutoFilter path to remove the filters, then
select all data and "unhide" the hidden columns.

This is a recent problem and Excel was working fine up until 1-2 weeks ago.

Any ideas?

Is this a shared file? And, if so, what version(s) of Excel are others using?
