excel 2002 - error caused by corrupted named ranges

H

hutch

Every time I group or ungroup rows or columns I get the
following error: "your file contains an invalid external
reference to a worksheet. verify the path, workbook, and
range name or cell reference are correct, and try again."
This occurs even if the active cell is empty.

Note that I have no external references on the sheet and
all external references in the workbook have been updated
and appear valid.

Only oddity is this -- my file has a named range with a
name of:

(box)(box)(box)Loan_Loss_Provision

The boxes are the symbol used for unassigned charters in
various fonts.

Any idea what is going on? The cause of the error? How
to remove the named range above?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Cheers,

Download the Name manager from either
www.jkp-ads.com
or
www.decisionmodels.com
or
www.bmsltd.co.uk/mvp

Install it, start it (find it in the Tools menu) and try to delete your
name. It will prompt you to fix the corrupt name.
