Excel 07 error "file cannot be found... check your spelling or try

When someone else in the company has a file open, and someone else tries to
open the same file, we get the following error:

Path/document name.xls cannot be found. Check your spelling, or try a
different path. In older versions, you would get a "read only" message
when trying to open a document that someone else was in.

I have unchecked the "Ignore other applications that use DDE" box under
options and we still get same error message.

I'm having the same issue. Did you find the cause of the problem?

For me its only happening at 1 site in my company. If someone has a file open and the user tries to open to the same file, they get the above error. However if someone has a file open and I try to access the same file I do not get the error (I get the usual read-only message instead).

I've tried reinstalling MS office 2000, 2003 & 2007 with a bunch of service packs in between. They are in a different country so reimaging the workstation is a hassle.

Anyone else had this problem?
