Events Not Displaying Proper Time Zone

I live in the eastern time zone, my girlfriend is going to school
in central time zone. My google Calendar is set to EST. I made a
calendar to track her classes, made each one an event with the correct
central times and set the calendar to central as well. In the main
view though, her calendar times appear as though they are eastern!
A class at 10:00 central is listed on my calendar as 10:00
eastern, even though her calendar is set to central and main time zone
is set to eastern. I haven't found any information on this yet but
it's caused some uncomfortable calls.
Can someone tell me what I need to do (short of changing the times
in each event to an incorrect time)?
