Does anyone know about a workaround for the Event Log
corruption problem? The related article is 829246. This
article speaks of a hotfix, but asks you to contact
Microsoft for the hotfix. Currently, our upper management
wants us to try and fix this without having to pay any
ungodly amount for a phone call.

Any information you may have would be very much
appreciated.

Thanks.

Good afternoon Alejandro,

If you need to contact MS Support for a hotfix, that is a free call (i.e.
you are not charged).

If you cannot boot because of the corruption, you can boot into the Recovery
Console and rename the appropiate file that giving you grief. The event log
files are located in %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\CONFIG.
