Event Viewer

I started getting error messages on IE. When I went to the Event Viewer to
check them out, I noticied thatunder "Event Viewer (Local)" there is now an
"Internet Explorer" section although there are "no items to show in this
view."
However, when checking messages under the "Application" tab, there are
Internet Explorer error messages with an event ID "1001."
Anyway we can get these to show up under the "Internet Explorer" tab.
I am using IE 7.
Please advise.

What are the error messages? Are you sure they are IE application errors,
and not runtime errors on certain webpages?

clean your machine is:

Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.

culprit and update it or remove it.

Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it
later for this step to copy the error message on it.
Open a run command and type in:

System
Security
Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow
exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the
causer.
On the Event error properties message you will see:
Up Arrow
Down arrow
Two pages
Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad
you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from
the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.
Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.

the scanner would not download fully. It stopped at 8 of 11 files, 66%
installed. Iget an "0X08482805" error message.

Still unable to download completely "onecare." Instead, ran Windows
Defender. Found no problems. Then ran Symantec both the Virus and Security.
No problems.
I had run the RAM test earlier today.
During the course of the afternoon, I got three BSODs. I have saved the
"MEMORY.DMP' files for, I think, at least two of the three events.

verifier.exe click [OK]
First try to eliminate hardware, by going to Device manager and check by
expanding the Plus [+] to see all devices listed, if there is a
malfunctioning device or conflicting device it will show in Device manager.

you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from
the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.
Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.

I reset the 'Acceleration' setting. I had it at 'full.'
All of these problems started several months ago when I had to replace my
motherboard. I previously had an AMD Atholon CPU that was several (like four)
years old. When I upgraded, I went to an ECS motherboard using a dual Intel
E6400. Installed 2 GB RAM and also a GeForce 7100 GS motherboard. I did
update the BIOS.
So as you can see, I really can't go back to a previous 'Restore' point.
It is this series of events that led to my comment in my last post that I may
have a bad motherboard. Unfortunately, without actually replacing the mother
board, I don't know of any way to check the MB.
I have saved the 'MEMORY.DMP' files from the last serises of BSODs. Sure
wish I had a way to check those files.
Any further thoughts?

You can use this driver verifier command:
verifier.exe click [OK]
First try to eliminate hardware, by going to Device manager and check by
expanding the Plus [+] to see all devices listed, if there is a
malfunctioning device or conflicting device it will show in Device manager.

Still unable to download completely "onecare." Instead, ran Windows
Defender. Found no problems. Then ran Symantec both the Virus and Security.
No problems.
I had run the RAM test earlier today.
During the course of the afternoon, I got three BSODs. I have saved the
"MEMORY.DMP' files for, I think, at least two of the three events.

One of the things I have been trying to find out is how to send a
"Memory.dmp" file ot MS OCA.

In Step 2, while trying to check for malware from the first listed site,
the scanner would not download fully. It stopped at 8 of 11 files, 66%
installed. Iget an "0X08482805" error message.
Please advise.

I started getting error messages on IE. When I went to the Event Viewer to
check them out, I noticied thatunder "Event Viewer (Local)" there is now an
"Internet Explorer" section although there are "no items to show in this
view."
However, when checking messages under the "Application" tab, there are
Internet Explorer error messages with an event ID "1001."
Anyway we can get these to show up under the "Internet Explorer" tab.
I am using IE 7.
Please advise.

Go through these cleaning steps to see or get a clear opinion on how
clean your machine is:
= Click Start >> Control Panel>>Network and Internet Connections >> Double
click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:

Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:

3... You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memory test by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.

You may need to reposition/reset the RAM sticks in their slots.
Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it
later for this step to copy the error message on it.
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel.
click on each of these:
Application
System
Security
Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow
exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the
causer.
On the Event error properties message you will see:
Up Arrow
Down arrow

When you replaced the Old Mobo with new one, did you installed the Software
came with the new Mobo?.
If you did n't you can go to the Motherboard manufacturer website and
download the drivers for your Mobo specs, or I would say the Mobo not
compatible with the rest of Hardware.
Did you install the New Mobo on an OEM or Full retail version of windows!.

Another to try:
A Repair/install to the operating system would cure this.

When I replaced the MB, I loaded all the drivers that came with it on the
CD. Now I did not replace the old hard drives. The operating system was on
the old hard drives and I remember the first time I applied power, it booted
right up. That version of Windows XP was an OEM version with SP1. I don't
remember if I did a reinstallation of Windows when I installed the new MB but
I do remember having to re-register Windows. Think the person I talked to
was in India.
But it was about this time that I started getting BSODs and that's what
triggered me checking for an updated version of the BIOS which I installed.
But the problems have persisted. When I installed the MB, I did an
installation of the drivers that came with the MB.
About the same time, I started getting Explorer error messages. At that
time I was running IE 6. I subsequently loaded IE 7 hoping that would cure
some of the explorer problems. It didn't. One of the files that keeps popping
up on the explorer error messages is "flash9d.ocx" which is a Macromedia
file. What I find ironic is I have the same setup on my HP 5170 laptop and I
don't get these explorer error messages.
Any further thoughts?
