not sure if this has anything to do with it or not just installed 1 gig of
ram for total of 1256 on hp laptop. now i see following messages id 7023
the human interface device access service terminated with the following error
the specified module could not be found. and also id 240 A request to
suspend power was denied by winlogon.exe

i read that the first one is caused by an appllication not needed by xp but
not sure about the 2nd one?

It could be that your new memory is not 100% compatible with the old
due to differences in the physical layout and/or the material
composition of the memory chips. These differences can affect the
strength and the timing of the signals returned from the RAM.

Try removing the original 256 mb and running with just the new 1 gb
installed. Does that make any difference with regards to the errors?

Good luck

actually i removed the 1 gig because i was getting blue screen it seems xp
didn't like me running the 1 gig and a 256meg. put the original 256 in for
total of 512 still got message, i think the message has been there but didn't
know until i had blue screen and checked error log. took out both 256
modules and am running the 1 gig without problems. message about module
still there but i see others had same message it seems something is looking
for the appmgmt.dll which is no where on my system did a search for it. so
all is fine now. just wish xp wasn't so picky
