I'm guessing this has something to do with the power supply or something in
relation to it. Whenever this occurs, it locks my pc with no error message
only a log in the event viewer. I don't know if it's a failing power supply
issue or if its a thermal issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you double click the Error message in the Event Viewer you will be able
to get more info about what application/harware caused it.
It can be any hardware related problem not just the power supply,CD/DVD
palyer,Modem,HDD going bad, Motherboard, Printers, scanners, USB devices but
most ;likely will be amodem or CD/DVD player.
Try to have a look in the Device manager by Right clicking your * My
Computer* and select Properties.
On properties window click on Hardware tab and click on Device manager button.
Click to expand each cat to see the sub-devices under it and see if any one
have an Exclamation mark on it and troubleshoot from there.
Do you have 3COM Adapter installed on your computer.
HTH.

Please look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for
Warning and Error Reports and post copies here.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event Viewer.
Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the
message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report.
Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I do have a 3COM adapter installed. How exactly would that be the cause
of the freezing/locking of a PC. How would one go about fixing the issue?

This is an obscure error and only a few reports of this error are
recorded. I eventually linked EL2000 to be a Service linked to 3COM.

I would check for Software and driver updates at the 3COM site.

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information about

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight
required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this is
fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages
longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers.

What is the make/model of your 3COM adapter?
Is it an add on card or integrated on the motherboard?
Try their NIC Detection Utility:
http://infodeli.3com.com/infodeli/tools/nic/index.htm

Download /install updated drivers if available starting at the provided link above.

Try this:
Click Start > Settings > Network Connections.
Right click on your LAN and click Properties in the popup menu.
Under the General tab click the Configure button next to your adapter.
Check the settings to see if any are manually set improperly.
If there is a diagnostic button, click it and run the various tests.

Its integrated into the motherboard. Apparently I disabled the adapter in
the BIOS, which helped things stabilize. Thanks for the help!

Good to hear you got your culprit, but you need to Disbale this From the
Device Manager or Updates all Drivers on your Motherboard, but not from MS
updates from the manufacturer website and for your Motherboard specs and
serial number.
