Hi,

I just opened the Event Viewer>Application tap when I was suddenly
confronted with "The event log file viewer is corrupt" and "application"
closed.

I reopend it via Control panel>admini tool and the same thing happend after
a few minutes.
I run sfc /scannow with no effect.

Any ideas on how to fix this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link, is fairly clear apart of :

"....Rename or move the corrupt *.evt file from the following location:

%SystemRoot%\System32\Config

5. In Control Panel Services tool, re-enable the EventLog service by setting
it back to the default of Automatic startup, or change the registry Startup
value back to 0x2...

Where is this folder and how do I access it?
(Am not particularly comuter savy..)

Thanks

Hi, I backed-up my resistry (system state)>saved it on the desktop.

I then found out that the article (link below) doesnt apply to my system
(Win XP pro)- so much for paying attention.

On further investication I used the following:
Event viewer> right click "application">select "clearall events"

Will monitor from now on what might have caused the "event viewer log
corrupt" message

Thanks

%SystemRoot% represents your Windows folder. This may be C:\Windows or
D:\Windows, depending upon the location where you installed Windows XP.

%SystemRoot%\System32\Config\
or
C:\Windows\System32\Config\

BTW, Event log allows you clear the events (from the Action menu), and I see
that you've already figured that option out.
