event viewer problem

M. Sajid

i have installed a server few days back. Today first time, I opened
its event viewer. As soon as i clicked on System, it opens a popup box which
says "The event log file is corrupt". I checked system log properties but
didnt find a way to change the log file or location, to create a new file.

How can i create a new system log file, so that it starts logging events
there.

Hi Sajid,

If you have the Symbols for Dr. Watson Error Debugging installed, see the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:

KB811143 - Error Message: The Event Log File Is Corrupt
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=811143

If you do not have symbols installed, perhaps using the Resolution in the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article will solve the problem:

KB172156 - How to Delete Corrupt Event Viewer Log Files
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=172156
