Have a lot to learn about Vista, so bear with me. My event viewer is showing
the following error repeatedly "The DFS Replication service has stopped."
What does this mean?

I'm answering only because no one else seems to know. The DFS
Replication service apparently is used by people who using a
roaming profile to work on multiple machines. I don't, so my
DFS Replication service is not running (though I certainly did
not disable it -- that I can recall).

If you don't use a roaming profile between multiple machines
then I'd guess you should just disable the service.

In the Start menu, type 'services' in the Search box and open
the Services manager from there. Set the DFS service to Manual.
