Event Viewer Not Working

R

Russ

This problem is very frustrating. The Event Viewer service does not start.
This is the error I receive:

Windows could not start the Windows Event Log service on Local Computer.
Error 4201: The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by WMI data
provider.

What the hell does this mean?

I have a series permission issue down to the files in the log directory. As
an administrator, I do not have access to change the permission of the
files. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer.
Place cursor on Event Viewer, right click and select "Run as
Administrator". Whilst as a User you may for some purposes be
treated as an Administrator, for other purposes you need "elevated"
powers. It may not be the answer but it's worth a try.

Hope this helps.
