Event Viewer acting buggy

Since the latest update of the server this past week I am
having a weird problem. When I select Event Viewer
it shows the system log by default as it always has.
But no other logs will display. Their size is stated
in their properties, but they do not display.
If I click around a bit, either the system log also
disappears for most of the others actaully do appear.
However, the applications log never displays.

Anyone have any idea what could be going on
or have you heard of this as a bug from an
update ?

Thanks,
Fox

This happened to me a couple of times too. Since I posted the problem here
it hasn't happened again. Windows Update doesn't list anything updated
since I posted (15th July).

When the problem happened I emptied the app log to reset it. The problem
occured again not soon after. I reset it again and I saved it before I did
so and the evt file just cannot be processed.

EventViewer doesn't complain about loading it (even reports 3511 events) but
its still blank. I note that the Filter page for this dodgy evt file shows
the From: and To: dates as being exactly the same - right down to the
second. Nornally it shows the first date and last date of events in the
log.

I really don't believe that log has 3511 events, all generated 23/07/2003
12:46:32 !!

Most probably some sort of circular buffer logic bug somewhere.

Regards,
Ed.
