Event ID 4004

I rebooted my Windows 2000 Server to find DNS errors in
the Event Log. The Error was for Event ID 4004 (the DNS
server was unable to complete directory service
enumeration of zone....etc). How can this error be
resolved??

Hi Greg

This event occurs because the DNS service is requesting information from the
AD, and AD services have not completed loading, causing the 4004 error to be
logged.

Since, the DNS zone information is stored in AD, the DNS service is unable
to access this information until AD is available.

If the issue only occurs once at boot time and does not occur when the zone
is changed to a standard primary (temporarily), then you can safely ignore
it.
