On Windows Server 2000 (SP4) with DNS service working I
received next message in the Event Log:
Source: DNS
ID: 4004
The DNS server was unable to complete directory service
enumeration of zone. This DNS server is configured to use
information obtained from Active Directory for this zone
and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the
Active Directory is functioning properly and repeat
enumeration of the zone. The event data contains the error.
2a 23 00 00

This server is domain controller also.

4004 event means that you have AD integrated zones and DNS started before
AD.
This usually happens if there is only one DC in the domain. I noticed in
your ipconfig in your other thread that you have two DNS servers in the
setup are both Domain Controllers?

Not. Forward server is not DC. But I have two domain
controllers. One is DNS server with settings DNS
forwarding.
