event id 1003 HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all

I have a cable modem, and 2 NICS in a proxyserver.
1 NIC is for the cable modem, where I have a fixed ip.
2nd NIC is the internal nic (192.168.0.1)

Software running on the server: Proxy+, vpop3 and trend micro server
protect.

I already changed the 2 nics. Drivers ok, installed perfectly.

The internet disconnects at least once a day. Sometimes 3 times a day.
No regular intervals, it disconnects at every possible hour.

When it disconnects, I still have my IP, but when I do a ipconfig/renew it
says: dhcp server not reachable.
When I disconnect the cable modem and reconnect him I get my ip back, and
everything is fine.

I've had this error already about 2 months now:

Event id 1003, source: dhcp
Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the
DHCP Server)
for the Network Card with network address 00805FBE68DD.
The following error occured:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. .
Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the
network address (DHCP) server.

I already tried everything. Contacted my isp several times, no solution.
The cable company came to fix cable problems, no solution.

Does anybody please have a solution, because I really don't know what to do
anymore .... :/

I've seen this happen when a line splitter goes bad. Also seen this happen
when the cable modem starts to go bad.

You need to through this back to your ISP. For some reason your modem is
capable of forwarding the IP.

I already changed the utp cable that goes into the modem, so it aint the utp
cable.
I don't know what you mean by 'line splitter', because I live in Belgium,
and we don't use that word here.
I assume you mean the end of a upt cable, or a splitter to split 1 utp cable
into one?

A line splitter is a device to split your cable line into two. One to go to
your TV, the other to your modem. The cable I was referring to is the CATV
cable.

I doubt if it has anything to do with your network cable.

the cable company checked all that, so I don't think it's the splitter.
Probably it's the modem, I asked to replace it.

Could it be something else? wrong setting @ the proxyserver or smth like
that?

I saw this in google newsgroups:

I know for a fact that this problem it`s caused by using a second NIC to
access broadband Internet. And it is caused by the server is trying to use
the dynamically assigned IP address provided by the ISP for services like
DNS. After the ISP refreshes or alters the provided IP the Internet dies a
swift death and DNS no longer functions. You get this error message in Event
viewer after also having event id 1003 "Your computer was not able to renew
its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card
with network address (<MAC address). The following error occured: The
semaphore timeout period has expired.". Your computer will continue to try
and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server. You
then get 8033 "the browser has forced an election on the network..." and no
Internet from either Workstation or Server.

A temporary solution is to either disable and then re-enable the Local
Connection for the 2nd NIC card and/or renew the IP address using the
IPCONFIG /RENEW command in command

prompt.

This is the EXACT same problem as I have, except that, when I do a
ipconfig/renew, it says: unable to find dhcp server. Then I have to reset
the cable modem.

Any ideas pls?
