I am using 2003 Server Standard Edition. When installing DHCP Server I
get the following error message:

"This computer has at least one dynamically assigned IP address. For
reliable Dynamic Host Configuration Prototol (DHCP), you should use only
static IP addresses. You will now have the option to change this
dynamically assigned IP address".

Now the dynamically assigned IP address is to my cable modem, with the
other card configured with a static ip address of 192.168.0.1. I'm unable
to bind the DHCP to the statically addressed card. When I select the DHCP
server it a white cross on red background appears on it. The only card
that appears in the right hand pane is the cable modem NIC. Nothing
appears for the statically addressed card so that I may configure the
scope.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank in advance.

1. Disable the Cable Modem.
2. Configure DHCP
3. Get everything working right.
4. Re-enable the Cable Modem.

How obivious. I'm embarrased that I didn't think of this myself. I'll
attempt this as soon as possible. Thank you.

It was just off the top of my head,..but it is the only thing I can think of
right now. Holler back if it doesn't work.

When you have multiple NIC cards with static / dynamic IP addresses, you
should change the sequence of network connections to be used for network
services.

There are multiple ways to do so, one being: go to Control Panel -> Network
Connections -> Advanced -> Advanced Settings->Bindings. There you change the
sequence of NIC cards to ensure that Connection with static IP comes before
the one with dynamic IP.

Once the above is done, when you restart the DHCP Server service, DHCP
Server should get bound to static IP. You can verify it using "netsh"
commands: "netsh dhcp server show bindings"

How about in the DHCP MMC,...rightclick on the
ServerName--->Properties-->Advanced-->Bindings--> Set it to the desired Nic.
