I get in event viewer in application : Msilnstaller can not find ,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER|SOFTWARE\INSTALLSHIELD\UPDATESERVICE\ DOSE NOT EXIST
This is listed as a warning (list 6 warning all seem to be related to each
other ) how can I kill this ? If I 0 out the value it makes no diff. so
removeing this reg . line will have no effect, to me it looks like I hve to
find Msilnstaller and change it some how to stop looking . Anyone know how to
do this or has a better idea of what will fix this ( this started after
installing sp-2 on xp pro.) THANKS.

No, I still looking off and on for one , it all started when I installed sp 2
.. Someday I find somekind of an answer to this mess. I almost forgot about
this letter no ever answered it or tried to.
good luck
mike

Hey Mike, I posted a similar problem on another message board, this is the link

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/co...eral&mid=9781957e-6d06-4b7a-b38f-7c459e8b4f64

It is called "MsiInstaller Event 1004 UpdateService" under the Windows Xp
General message board. My error in the registry is specific to a componant
that is generating the errors. I searched the registry to find that the
componant is linked to the Wal-Mart Download Manager plugin for Windows Media
Player - WiMP...

I am testing further, but thought you might like to follow the other thread.

Thanks
J
