Event 1202's

M

Millette

I get an event 1202 in the application log with the
following text

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: SceCli
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1202
Date: 4/8/2004
Time: 12:30:53 AM
User: N/A
Computer: servername
Description:
Security policies are propagated with warning. 0x4b8 : An
extended error has occurred.

For best results in resolving this event, log on with a
non-administrative account and search
http://support.microsoft.com for "Troubleshooting Event
1202s".

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

The trouble is that I have tried several articles and not
found an answer that works. These messages are not every
5 minutes and it seems to be very generic. I have done
the policy comparison but the results mean little to a
fix.

I would suggest configuring Verbose logging and then running GPUPDATE. The
logs are very good and might get you the answer immediately.

See if this helps:

Error code 0x4b8 (decimal 1208) - "An extended error occurred". See
Q260715 - A conflict in Group Policy can cause these events to occur. These
error messages can occur if the "Rename Administrator Account" security
policy is enabled and then set to an account name that is already in use.
Also, as per Q285903, to resolve this behavior, remove all references to the
Power Users group in the Local Security settings.
