ESS Allegro PCI Audio (WDM)

This sound device keeps disabling itself. I unistall it,
restart computer, and some 50% of the time it reinstalls
okay, the other 50% it won't. How do I get this problem
resolved?

Try moving it to different PCI slot. This will give it new IRQ. One PCI slot
will share IRQ with AGP and can cause trouble.

This is over my head. How, specifically, can I do what
you suggest?

Try moving it to different PCI slot.

1. Open computer case (with computer unplugged).
2. Use screwdriver to remove sound card from computer.
3. Place sound card in different slot inside computer.

You may want to have mechanically inclined friend help you with this.
