Erunt and the copied partition

Suppose Erunt was used to backup the registry on partituion C for some time
then the contents of partition C was copied to an empty partition D. Suppose
one booted D one day and wanted to restore an _OLD_ backed-up registry that
is on D but was created _BEFORE_ C was copied to an emptry D, would there be
any problems after restoring the registry?

Copying a "Windows on C:\" to a D:\ wouldn't boot unless the
original C:\ is removed from the system. The Registry contains
hard-coded references to the drive letter it's installed on. Trying
to import a Registry backup with references to C: on a Windows
running from D: would definitely corrupt things.

But after copying C to an empty D, I was able to boot D!

With C: still present and marked "Active" ? or did you modify the
Boot.Ini on C:\ to direct XP to load from D:\ (?)

I use a floppy to boot any partition. There are no active partitions.

So.....each time you boot "D:", does it read as "C:"? Do pragrams installed
before, that is , when it was on C:, run correctly? IF so.... ERUNT should
work, too.
