Errors Merging from Business Contact Manager

If I attempt a mail merge in Word 2003 using the Business Contacts in the
Business Contact Manager and Outlook is NOT running, I get a 'MAPI
catastrophic Failure' message box.

If Outlook is running, no problems. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have been informed that there is a link between BCM and Symantec Norton
Internet Security or AntiSpam.
