Errors in Media Card Reader in Dell Inspiron 530

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 purchased new May 2008 with the factory-
installed SM/xD/SD/MS card reader. On 10/27 I received 3 updates from
Microsoft Update which were:

Platform update for Windows Vista KB971644
Update for Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List for Windows
Vista KB975364
Update for Windows Vista KB972145

After receiving these updates, I get 4 error messages (1 for each
device) each time I boot up saying that I need to reinstall it's
driver. I am given options to "search automatically for updated driver
software" or "browse my computer for driver software", but both
options fail with a message saying "Windows found driver software for
your device but encountered an error while trying to install it.
Access is denied". (I am logged on as administrator, in case that
matters).

The xD reader is the only one I use and it still appears to be
operational, but I don't know about the others. I'd like to either
solve or get rid of the error message and the notification in Device
Manager that there is a problem. Any assistance is appreciated.

I just discovered that a similar message occurs regarding my Epson
CX7400 printer, although the print and scan functions are both
working. I am guessing that these are just spurious error messages,
but I'd like to fix them rather than ignore them.
