Error With Chkdsk

Why I run chkdsk on an ntfs drive I get the following message. "Read failure
with status 0xc000009c at offset 0xc9f07000 for 0x4000 bytes" I believe it is
this error that is preventing me from imaging or backing up this drive. I
think I can guess the meaning, but is there anything I can do to fix the
problem? Thanks

I would first run diagnostics on the drive to determine if it is good or
bad.

I'm sorry I am an amateur. I thought chkdsk was a diagnostic. What should I run?

chkdsk is more of a software/filesystem diag, get the diagnostic from the
hard drive manufacturers website, it tests the hardware.

I got the download from seagate and it worked perfectly. Thanks. I guess this
was a feature that Norton dropped when it switched to chkdsk as its disk
doctor.
