Error when using MPEG

Every time I attempt to make a clip out of an MPEG movie file, I always get an error message (the XP equivalent to an illegal operation in Win98), then the program shuts down. However, Movie Maker works fine for me if using any other supported file type, just not mpeg. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this and maybe knows of a way to solve the problem? Or if there could be a patch released in future.

System Specs
WinXP Pr
P4 2.8Gh
512MB DD
GeForceFX 560
SB Live (or something, cant remember exactly
DVD Combo Drive (dont see how this could be relevant

Thank you

I just tried it on my system, running Windows XP, with
Movie Maker 2 -- no problems at all.
