When I try and publish a site, I get an error message "an
error occurred accessing your frontpage web files. Authors-
if authoring a web server, please contact the webmaster
for this server's site.

I'm thinking this might have started after a windows
update, but I'm not sure. Any help would be great.

Working in FrontPage 2000 sp3
Windows 2000 sp4
web page files and folders sit on a network drive.

I got this error after Critical Patch #810217. I removed it and my FrontPage returned to working order. I talked with tech support twice emphasizing that when SP2 was released, this patch would probably be embedded and I would be stuck. Well indeed it has returned with SP2 and I can't seem to get any answers.

Try installing SP3

I tried doing this, but I don't see patch #810217 listed
in the add/remove programs. Is there something that I am
missing?

I'm not sure I understand. I have sp3 for office 2000 and
sp4 for windows 2000.

You have not indicated that you installed SP3, just SP2 RC1 (which is a release candidate and not
the final version of the SP2).

Suggest un-installing SP2 RC1 and installing SP3.

The #810217 patch was from back in 11/2003 so if this just started for you maybe it's something else. I got rid of it back then but now SP2 RC1 has brought it back for me. I'm not sure how I removed it. It may have been a restore point.

Still doesn't make sense. My original message says that I
have Windows sp4 and Office sp3.
