ANyone know what 'System file error (-65537)' is?
I can create a new folder on the desktop but can't rename or delete it, but
can drag files in and out.

My assumption is the folder is in use. If a file is in use in a folder then you can not
rename the folder that file is in.

Thanks. I have just created a new folder - default named New Folder (2), and
if I try and rename it or delete it I get error message "Error deleting file
or folder" in the header, with 'Cannot create or replace New Folder (2)
File system error (-65537)'

Any ideas. I haven't put any files it it, its an empty folder
Cheers

Not unless it is NTFS and you don't have delete rights but that's doubtful.

Scratch that -- it's a stupid answer :-(

I dont have Admin rights as its a work laptop - but just tried to rename a
folder i created a few days ago when working offline and I can't change that
folder name now either. The only thing i did recently was load a DSL driver,
wireless card and a Bluetooth disk.......baffles me and my support guys
totally
