Error trying to open Add - Remove Programs

I get the following error message when trying to open Add -
Remove Programs from the control panel icon. (W2KPro)
An unexpected error occurred

Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment

The knowledge base found lots of stuff, but nothing
referring to Add - Remove Programs. Got some hits with
parts of this message all gave differing solutions and
none were specific to the argument or property assignment
portions of this error. Any assistance will be greatly
appreciated.
