error: "Too many different cell formats" won't open spreadsheet

Saved a spreadsheet with about 30 sheets. Now when attempting to open, get
error "too many different cell formats" and the spreadsheet crashes the
program (on Mac) and just won't open in Windows. Any suggestions on how to
get it to open?

Unfortunately, I can't get the spreadsheet to open, so I can't eliminate any
of the cell formats.
