error reporting/other communication problems

I am having problems it seems communicating with microsoft server. First,
when there is a problem & the error reporting window comes up, it just sits
there doing the connecting to server.
Also, when I tried to install Microsoft Office, it stops in the middle of
installation & just doesn't finish, and even tho it looks like it is
installed, when I try to open it, it tells me to activate but that also ends
in a communication error.
I'm not sure who I am having problems with- the computer (Dell), Microsoft
themselves, or my internet provider (verizon) since I can connect to the
internet just fine.
Anyone have any ideas?

I am also having problems with my email... it is also having communication
problems.
