Error Report on startup of some Programs?

Hi, I'm having trouble with 2 Programs I have, The programs are "Cool Edit" (Audio program) and "Macromedia Freehand" (this now seems ok)..

Anyway, when I click on these programs to use them, halfway through loading/startup a Windows Error message comes up asking me if I would like to send an error report

I have tried Unistalling and Deleting the program from the RegEdit, although when I reinstall it happens again
I have also tried downloading the Current Direct X from Microsoft but it hasn't helped

Please, if anyone has any suggestions let me know

are you sure the programs are compatible with xp?
go to the web site and see if there are any update
patches.
