Hi All,

I have been using FP2000 for a couple of years now with no problems,
however recently I have come across a problem when publishing one
particular page on my site. This page, when I try and update it to the web
host, seems to take a long time to send and I then get a popup box with
the error message "Server error: The method " is not recognised."

The page did have a theme attached to it, which none of the others did, so
I deleted that and tried again, but with no success.

Anyone know what this means and how to correct it, please..? Preferably
before I pull all my hair (what's remaining..!) out..!

Ivor

What type of file is it and what are you using for a file name

PS
Since you have had Publish errors do some clean up:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp
and / or
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Temp
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web web cache files
Usually in
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Thanks Stefan,

It's a basic html page, nothing fancy like java or asp. Filename is simply
links.htm. Host is running Linux with FP extensions working.

I finally cured it by deleting the host based copy of the page and
re-publishing, but I'll follow the steps you suggest also.

I've asked that question a couple of times, but did not get a good answer.
However I'm just reading Stefan's cleanup suggestion and found the following
that happened on the publish web date:

In C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp, I opened the
file called wecerr.txt and it says:
03/18/2004 22:42:53
Could not find a web server at 'home.nycap.rr.com'. Please check to make
sure that the web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set
correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the web server may be
temporarily out of service.
..........................................
The files uploaded properly and looked okay, so they did reach the server,
but during that period, the server "was" having planned maintenance and
sporadic 'out of order' announcements on its member information chart.
